Architecture
and Interior Design

For architecture and interior design, StY organizes pathways for you to combine the experimental design of spaces with practical projects. For students who want to engage artfully the creation of structures and spaces, you’ll have the ability to focus your drawing and 2D and 3D design skills on the places we live, work, and play in. Work in this challenging field expands your technical skills while you discover innovative approaches to problem solving for real-life projects.
Often students who engage in the arts are talented and inventive with a mature or ironic sense of humor. We have found these students to have a depth and sensitivity that distinguishes them from their peers. Seize the Year (StY) understands how you experience different intellectual, academic, social and emotional paths in your life.
StY works with you, in partnership with your parents, to foster creative problem solving and imaginative expression in the context of your experiences and goals.
We have found most of our students were underserved by traditional high school counselors; StY supports artistically creative students who will benefit the most from mentors experienced in the visual arts.
StY builds an advising arc by working with students and parents to structure an interim year which encourages experimentation, identifying programs, courses, internships, etc. The result is an expanded life experience for engaging a career and life in the arts.
